1/19/2013 - Real estate values in Downe Township dropped sharply at the end of 2012, according to Internet real estate firm Zillow.com. The most recent decline is part of a long term trend that has dropped the average home value by about $30,00 over the past three years. The decline so far represents a drop of 20% over the past three years. In contrast, real estate is gaining value in many other parts of the U.S., according to CNN and other sources. The Zillow chart below shows the long term trend and the drop at the end of 2012. This pattern matches the real estate price decline experiences by bay shore communities in Delaware that are also facing similar issues of water level rise, expanded salinity infusion and increased violent weather patterns.
